The Japanese community in Peru has made a significant cultural impact on the country since they first began to immigrate in the late 19th century. One of the most significant manifestations of Japanese influence is of course Nikkei, a Japanese-Peruvian fusion food which is sweeping the globe.
The particular roots of this fusion lie in the importance both traditions give to fresh fish, as Japanese sushi, encouraged by Peru’s thriving fishing industry, mixes perfectly with the ceviche which is at the centre of many Peruvian menus. Thanks to our well-respected Chef, Jordan Sclare, we are internationally renowned for the quality of our Nikkei cuisine and our contemporary touch.
Nikkei cuisine is all about quality, ingredients and flavours. We care where our food comes from and how it is produced. All our ingredients are natural, locally produced, non. GMO and made with no artificial flavouring.
Situated at the heart of Soho our flagship Chotto Matte restaurant opened in 2013.
Discover our four cooking sections: Sushi Bar, The Robata, Sautee and Tempura. Each of our dishes have been designed to be shared at the centre of the table. Our waiters will organise the order of the dishes to be served, adhering to our philosophy of first eating colder, light flavoured dishes, graduating to hotter, fuller flavours and ending with sushi.

A playful dining experience located within Brookfield Place, Chotto Matte Toronto offers one of the world’s most dynamic, complex and fashionable cuisines through luxury Bento Boxes and express Tobans as a lunchtime option and à la carte offerings and signature cocktails throughout the day. The venue will feature a Robata grill counter, sushi bar and a spacious summer terrace offering open-air dining. Chotto Matte will be introducing AkACHAN, its first cocktail lounge exclusively in Toronto, which will host lively music and nightly DJ’s.
In a small garden designed by the famous Madison Cox, you will discover Chotto Matte St Tropez – an exciting restaurant new to France but known to London, Miami and Toronto.
Chotto Matte St Tropez, located at EPI 1959 offers an adaptation of the brand that will focus on Sushi, Sashimi and luxury seafood options, extensive sharing menus and masterfully curated cocktails that are available in the restaurant, as well as by the beach or poolside.
